Honesty you could have been talking about my 13 year old son. He is not adopted but he has autism and adhd and we have EXACTLY the same conversations with him in both the examples you gave and he has EXACTLY the same reactions! If He actually did all the things he says “I was going to!” we would live in a shiner utopia and have a unicorn grazing on the back garden
