Special Educational Needs

We've been contacted by a listener who is considering a child that has some SEN needs, they have asked if this is something that we have experience of. So in todays episode J am sharing our experience and some of my knowledge, I even try to get technical at one point...but I may be well off the mark there!!

Assessments

I have been asked for some while now to discuss the assessment process and what to expect, I have been trying to reach out to some social workers to discuss this but not had any joy, so here, is my experiences of the assessment process. I hope it helps you along the way.

Our little dude has been doing some great work with his cadets and has shared his progress with us, which has been lovely to hear about. I am sharing some nice updates with you of how things are going, hope you enjoy. 

Good grief!

Considering Siblings?

In our latest online forum we spoke all about adopting siblings, the challenges and the rewards. It was fascinating to start thinking about this and thinking about how to encourage other adopters to consider siblings. Is it something you’ve done or thought about?? I spoke too soon!

So, in last weeks episode I spoke about how well things were going and how great it was to see little dude enjoying some independence...I think I spoke too soon!! 

 

Also, as a little side note, I counted 6 interruptions during the recording of this episode, so had to keep stopping, hope it didn't spoil the flow of the chat. :-)

Independence

At a training session I spoke about independence, it got me thinking about the journey Little Dude has taken and how it is developing.

Get Involved

I was at a focus forum where we talked about support groups, their benefits and how they are doing right now. It then got me to thinking about the groups that I have attended and supported with too. So, on my walk...on take 2 I discuss all things support group.
